Dear Bondarians;

This week the Provincial government announced that schools in Ontario will remain closed for the rest of the school year, in order to ensure the health of students, families, and communities. As the Premier said in his announcement, this news brings mixed feelings for all of us: we recognize that the health and safety of students must be the top priority in all decisions, and at the same time we will miss closing out the school year with all of our Bondarians back at school.

Several details as we move into June still need to be figured out; such as the procedure for students to pick up their belongings from school, reporting student progress for the year, and wishing our Grade 8 students well as they transition to High School. At this time, the OCDSB in consultation with Ottawa Public Health, is preparing protocols to address these and other questions, in a way that will be consistent across our district.  Answers to all of these questions will be coming soon, and we appreciate your patience during this time.

On another note, we would like to share that the OCDSB will again be offering summer international languages classes to students in Grades 1 to 8. These classes will be offered online daily from July 2 to July 24 in morning (between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm) and in the afternoon (between 1:00 pm & 3:30 pm).  More information, including the 20+ languages offered and registration information, is available here.

We would like to remind all parents that our school and OCDSB support team is available to support families who are experiencing challenges during this time. Whether those challenges are related to student mental wellness, financial, or other, we are connected to the multiple OCDSB and City of Ottawa resources which are available to support our community. Please reply to this email at at to access support.

This weekend marks the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid. To our families who will be observing this holiday we wish you Eid Mubarak, and hope the weekend is filled with joy; spending time with immediate family and connecting with extended family and friends online.

To all of our families, enjoy your weekend: be well and stay healthy.
