Dear Bondarians;


We hope this weekly update finds you and your families well, and ready for a well-deserved long-weekend break.  


Thank you to all the parents who have reached out with your questions, comments, and suggestions, either in replying to this newsletter,  or through your child’s teachers. Given the school shutdown, staying connected has become even more important, and your feedback on the Learn at Home experience from the parent perspective has been invaluable to the entire Bondar team as we work to more effectively serve our community.


At this time, all schools in Ontario are closed for all non-essential access, and that includes retrieving any personal belongings. We are awaiting an announcement from the Ontario Ministry of Education early next week and will be communicating with families when we have further updates.


We would like to remind all parents that our school and OCDSB support team is available to support families who are experiencing challenges during this time. Whether those challenges are related to student mental wellness, financial, or other, we are connected to the multiple OCDSB and City of Ottawa resources which are available to support our community. As mentioned above, this Monday, May 18 is the Victoria Day holiday, so Learn at Home will resume on Tuesday, May 19. The Victoria Day weekend is traditionally the unofficial start of summer, when families take advantage of improving weather to travel, visit friends, and engage in outdoor activities. This long weekend will look different from what we are used to, but we hope that you are able to ‘unplug’ and spend time outside with your family.

Moonwalk across the room.  Be sure to look behind you!

Turn on some music and dance!

Crab walk around your yard, house or outside.

Do 25 chicken jumping jacks (tuck your hands under your armpit to make wings)

Play head and shoulders, knees and toes with your family.

Daily Acts of Kindness

Make a sign to put in your window or garage door to help put a smile on neighbours faces

Wave and say hello to your neighbours.  Ask how they are doing

Plant some flowers or seeds.

Give someone a compliment

Let a sibling go first
